Intersectional & Multi-directional: Nothing is Linear

2023
Mixed media (acrylic, ink, gouache, watercolor, oil pastel, glitter, fabric) on canvas
24 in. x 36 in.

Through interweaving layers of human experience, this piece challenges binary thinking and celebrates the nuanced complexity of our shared existence. While society often appears divided, our individual paths intersect in unexpected ways, revealing profound connections beneath surface differences. The work explores how diverse perspectives enrich our collective understanding, suggesting that our greatest insights emerge when we embrace the full spectrum of human experience. Beyond linear narratives, it illuminates how our interconnected journeys create something greater than the sum of their parts, offering hope in healing forward together.

This piece was featured in the 2023 HARD/gentle exhibition at Goodluckhavefun Gallery in Austin, TX.

HARD/gentle is a collaborative effort between two friends, using paint, mixed-media,  ceramic, and comic illustrations to build a world of resilience and strength while wishing you a gentle return to yourself. This whirlwind show focuses on healing, the meaning it holds for each artist, and how the process is interpreted and uniquely transpires in their own individual works.
